With Your Support, Leon Learned to Be Confident Again

Thanks to your support, more children are experiencing positive changes in their lives. One of them is Leonel Juan Pratama, or Leon, a 12-year-old only child from Semarang.

Since he was little, Leon often struggled with low self-esteem. His chubby body and dark skin became targets of mockery from his peers.
“I was called fat… It made me feel sad, especially during third and fourth grade,” he recalled.

Leon grew up to be a quiet and withdrawn boy. He felt deeply insecure and found it difficult to make friends.

Things began to change when Leon joined the School of Life (SOL) Elroy Learning Center in fourth grade. There, he felt accepted. His teachers taught him that everyone, regardless of body shape or skin color is a precious creation of God.

One of the lessons Leon remembers most is “Being Thankful for My Body.”

“Learning about being thankful for my body reminded me not to be afraid when people make fun of how I look,” said Leon.

Over time, Leon grew more confident. He opened and became friends again with the kids who once mocked him. He also became more enthusiastic about learning, and his grades started to improve. His parents are very proud of the positive changes in their son. Now in sixth grade, Leon is preparing to enter junior high school.

Thank you, OBI Partners. Because of you, children like Leon are rediscovering their confidence and hope for the future.
