Providing Clean Water Access to Families Like Ablian’s

Living with limited water sources every day is a big challenge for communities in East Nusa Tenggara and North Sumatra. The lack of access to clean water has made life difficult for them. After witnessing the hardships, they endure, we realized that they are in dire need of help.

Together with donors, Obor Berkat Indonesia (OBI) presents an initiative to provide clean water in the form of rainwater harvesting systems and wells. As of July 2024, we have completed 3 out of 35 rainwater harvesting systems in Umbubalodano Village on the Nias Islands and inaugurated 1 well in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

Thanks to your generosity, Ablian (10 years old) and his family can now live more easily. They are among the beneficiaries of the rainwater harvesting system project in Umbubalondo Village, Nias Islands. Ablian, his parents, and his seven siblings live in a small hut with a thatched roof. They don’t even have a bathroom or a proper water tank.

Every day, they rely on a water reservoir dug into the ground to meet their water needs for drinking, cooking, washing, and bathing. However, the murky and unclean water quality often causes Ablian and his family to suffer from stomach aches and skin rashes. They have no other options.

Hoping for easy access to clean water in their village seemed like a dream. But God opened a way through you! The rainwater harvesting system from OBI was completed at Ablian’s house last July. With this tank, their need for clean water is now met.

Thank you, your generosity has fulfilled the hopes of many families in need of clean water access.
