One Month of Standing with North Sumatra & Aceh 

Over the past month, as floods and landslides struck multiple areas across North Sumatra and Aceh, OBI remained present alongside affected communities. In the midst of limited access and challenging conditions, timely presence made a meaningful difference. Your support made it possible for every step of assistance to reach those who needed it most. 

From the earliest days of the disaster, OBI responded swiftly by distributing emergency food assistance, including family food packages and ready-to-eat meals, to help meet urgent basic needs. This aid was prioritized for the hardest-hit areas, particularly locations where daily activities and logistics access were severely disrupted. 

As the situation evolved, humanitarian efforts continued to support the short-term recovery of affected families. By the end of December 2025, OBI had distributed thousands of non-food relief items, including temporary shelter supplies, wearable clothing, and hygiene kits. This assistance supported families across more than 5,000 communities who lost essential belongings and faced limited access to daily necessities following floods and landslides. 

In the area of health, OBI also provided direct medical services through a series of mobile clinics. Medical teams delivered basic health checkups and treatment for affected residents—especially vulnerable groups—as a preventive measure against post-disaster illness and to support physical recovery. 

Beyond physical needs, special attention was given to mental and psychosocial recovery, particularly for children. In partnership with the Superbook Indonesia team, OBI conducted psychosocial support activities in multiple affected locations. Through child-friendly and encouraging activities, children were helped to feel safe again and gradually recover from trauma. To support continued learning, OBI also distributed school supplies so children could keep attending school despite difficult circumstances. 

By the end of December 2025, this collective response had reached tens of thousands of affected individuals across various districts and cities in North Sumatra and Aceh. These figures reflect not only the assistance delivered, but also a continued presence and care walking alongside communities during a time of emergency.
