Dropped Out of School, Now Pursuing the Dream of Becoming a Doctor Through Free Education
You have become a beacon of hope for out-of-school children in this country! Every donation you make is a real support to make their dreams come true through the OBI Community Learning Center (PKBM) in Tanah Merah, North Jakarta. Thanks to your support, as of October 2024, 291 students from early childhood education (PAUD) to Packet C National High School Equivalency are now actively participating in learning activities at PKBM OBI Tanah Merah, including Mawar, a 14-year-old girl.
Mawar joined PKBM OBI Tanah Merah in July 2024. She resumed her education through the Package B (National Junior High School Equivalency) program after dropping out of a private school because she could not afford the fees. She was also left to live on her own after her mother died two years ago and her father left when she was very young.
Living without a Certain Future
After dropping out of school, Mawar went to live with her aunt and uncle. She spent her days without a clear direction, although deep down she always longed for the chance to return to school and pursue her dream of becoming a doctor.
Her wish to continue her education finally came true when she heard that PKBM OBI Tanah Merah was offering free education to out-of-school children. Upon hearing this, Mawar immediately enrolled.
Studying Hard to Achieve Her Dreams
For Mawar, studying at PKBM OBI Tanah Merah is a great opportunity. Not only does it provide free education, but it also provides an environment, teachers and lessons that have made her a better person, especially through the character-building lessons offered. This has motivated Mawar to study hard in the hope of obtaining her Junior High School Certificate with satisfactory grades and continuing her education to the next level.
Mawar said, “I am grateful to have found a school like PKBM OBI Tanah Merah, which gives me the opportunity to go to school without the burden of fees. It keeps me motivated to achieve my dreams.”
