When children at PAUD Super5 receive proper care and support, they are no longer confined to learning only inside the classroom. Today, they can enjoy school in a more joyful and meaningful way, while also growing healthier. You have played an important role in their development journey up to this day.
One such example is found at PAUD Super5 Elim Naibonat in East Kupang. Previously, the children at this school showed little enthusiasm for learning due to a monotonous environment. Activities were limited, and their nutritional needs were largely unmet, despite early childhood being a golden period for a child’s growth.
“They never ate breakfast. Usually, they had plain rice, porridge without any side dishes, or were given Rp1,000 to buy candy at a local stall,” shared Mrs. Nosita Dewi, the Head of PAUD Super5 Elim Naibonat.
Through your support, OBI provided seeds, fertilizers, farming tools, laying hens, chicken feed, materials for chicken coops, and hands-on training. As a result, a small vegetable garden and chicken farm were established at the school through the Garden in School program.
“The children were so excited! Every day, they compete to feed the chickens, and some even arrive early just to water the spinach plants,” Mrs. Nosita added.
Now, the children are actively involved in planting, watering, harvesting vegetables, and feeding chickens. Best of all, they are able to enjoy the fruits of their labor, fresh vegetables and nutritious eggs they helped care for themselves.
For many families at this school, eggs and chicken are rare sources of protein at home. Today, the school environment is more vibrant, the children are learning with renewed spirit, and even the parents feel the positive impact.
