In the heart of North Jakarta, an oasis of knowledge and skills has taken root through Community Learning Center OBI Tanah Merah, where the hopes and dreams of children come to life. Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, we provide free education for programs A, B, and C and equip students with valuable batik-making skills. Our goal is not only to teach but to transform students into independent and skilled individuals who can improve their lives after graduating from OBI.
Batik class at OBI is not just art lesson; it is a course in perseverance and creativity. Held from Monday to Thursday, the class educates students on the traditional art of batik—from the painting process to the techniques of dyeing and coloring the fabric. Currently, we are proud to say that there are 54 students enrolled in these classes, each honing skills that can open doors to a brighter future.
Amel, a student who has participated in the batik class for four years, is one of our many success stories. “My hope is that through batik, I can develop a business and create new opportunities,” says Amel, whose skills continue to grow with each fabric she adorns.
Rosalina, a 12th-grade student in Package C and a newcomer to the art of batik, has also experienced profound transformation. “At first I doubted my ability, but with guidance from OBI, I am now mastering skills that I never imagined before,” says Rosalina enthusiastically. For Rosalina, Community Learning Center OBI Tanah Merah is not just a school; it is a bridge to a brighter future.
