Natural disasters like earthquakes, landslides, and floods can happen anytime, causing major losses to communities. Together with you and local communities, OBI is committed to strengthening disaster resilience through the “Earthquake and Hydrometeorological Disaster Preparedness Training” in North Sumatra.
The training took place on February 24, 26-28, 2025, in four disaster-prone areas in North Sumatra: Balige, Sidikalang, Kabanjahe, and Medan City. It was attended by local residents, BPBD officers, volunteers, and representatives from local church communities.
The sessions included both theory and field simulations. One of the highlights was an earthquake evacuation drill, where participants actively engaged to improve their community-level preparedness.
Mrs. Sanaria, one of the participants, is a teacher at PAUD Super 5 and the School of Life learning center. She expressed her gratitude for the valuable knowledge she gained.
“This training has given me the skills to handle an earthquake situation. I can also share this knowledge with others through future training sessions,” she said.
Thank you, OBI Partners! Let’s continue working together to build stronger, disaster-resilient communities!
