An Affectionate Operation for Arfa

Arfa was born with a congenital disease. Since born Arfa suffered from cleft lip Labio-Palato. The defect not only split his upper lip, but also caused the palate of his mouth to have a cavity up to his nose. This congenital condition tormented Arfa. The mother had to be very careful when feeding or giving him liquids, so that Arfa does not choke, or to prevent the given food/water to be discharged via his nose.

Arfa is the youngest of two siblings. This small family lives in the Cianjur area, Jawa Barat. There is no definitive reason as to why Arfa was born with a cleft lip. In their individual family no one suffered from cleft lips. It is just that during the first month of pregnancy, the mother often had blood spots. The feeling of shock or upset could not be hidden when the father and mother knew about Arfa being born with a cleft lip. However, even though Arfa was born with a defect, the love of father and mother was not diminished. They precisely love their only son evenmore. For them a child is family flower, no matter the condition. They were resigned to the condition of their son’s cleft lip, realizing that no one can choose to be born with a cleft lip. Rather than busily regretting and asking why, the father and mother focused precisely on thinking how to cure Arfa. Unfortunately they did not have enough resources for a self funded operation.

Saturday, December 13th 2014, the second medical aid came for little Arfa. At the RS Sentra Medika, together with help from Obor Berkat Indonesia and accompaniment of the parents, Arfa underwent his second operation. This second operation was to close the gap in the palate of his mouth. The first help operation was done exactly a year ago in December 2013. In the first operation, the cleft lip was successfully cured and the result were very good. The two operation of affection for Arfa really made the father and mother free of the burden of thinking about the expenses of a cleft lip operation. Arfa was operated on without expenses.

The father and mother of Arfa are very glad, satisfied and filled with emotion looking at the result of the operation on their son. According to them, now Arfan looks handsome. In the past there was a neighbor who often treated them unjustly when meeting Arfan with father and mother. If the person does not say incidentally ‘god forbid’ then this neighbor for sure, does not look at Arfan’s face. But after Arfan had been operated on, this neighbor is glad to see Arfa. In the beginning the neighbor did not recognize Arfa. Arfa seemed like a person who never suffered from a cleft lip because the stitching was very neat. All previous rumours which were often said about Arfa’s cleft lips have faded away. Now with the help of the affectionate operation from Obor Berkat Indonesia, Arfa has been freed from Cleft Lips.
