A warm classroom starts with teachers who are willing to keep learning. That is why OBI supports Super5 preschool teachers with training and mentoring to help them better understand the needs of every child.
One teacher who has experienced this impact is Tetap Riang, affectionately known as Miss Teta, a 22-year-old teacher. Growing up, Miss Teta never thought working with children was for her. “Back then, when I saw a child misbehaving, I wanted to hit them and get angry. I just didn’t like children,” she shared.
When she was invited to serve in children’s ministry, she even turned down the opportunity because she felt she did not have enough patience to work with children. Still, Miss Teta already had teaching experience. From her school years through college, she gave private lessons, worked as a tutor, and helped children during an internship at a museum.
Her view of children began to change after she graduated from college in September 2025 and became a teacher at Super5 Benih Kasih Preschool. Teaching young children brought new challenges. A busy classroom, energetic children, and even arguments over toys often tested her patience.
But things began to change even more after Miss Teta joined Super5 training, especially a session about children’s brain development. She learned that a child’s behavior is closely connected to how they grow and develop.
“It has really changed me. It has helped and motivated me to keep learning—to be more patient, to love the children, and to better understand what they are going through.”
