You Made Clean Water Possible for Mikku Ate and Ndapataka

Every drop of clean water now flowing in the villages of Ndapataka and Mikku Ate stands as tangible evidence of the support you have given. Together with OBI and local churches, your help has brought meaningful transformation to many families in urgent need of clean water.

For years, the people in both villages lived with limited access to safe water. To meet their daily needs, they had to walk long distances to reach springs located at the edge of the village or rely on rainwater during the wet season. Some families were even forced to purchase water, an economic burden, especially considering that most households rely on farming and livestock for their income. Ironically, the task of collecting water often fell on mothers and children, while fathers worked to earn a living.

Children in these communities frequently suffered from skin irritation and stomach pain due to the use of unsafe water. The same water sources were also used for bathing livestock and horses, making them unsuitable for consumption.

However, thanks to your generosity, hope has arrived and things have changed.
OBI built deep wells in both villages and provided WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) training to educate the community on healthy practices. In addition, Water Committees were formed to ensure the facilities would not only be used but also maintained and sustained over time.

The well construction was completed through mutual cooperation with community members. Once finished, each clean water facility was officially inaugurated: Ndapataka’s bore well on July 10, 2025, and Mikku Ate’s on July 11, 2025.

“When God blessed our community through CBN and Obor Berkat Indonesia, we also hoped to become a blessing to those around us. On behalf of the congregation and residents here, I express our heartfelt thanks to OBI and CBN for helping us through the construction of this clean water well,”
said Rev. Yulita, pastor of GKS Mikku Ate.

Many other communities are still waiting for the same hope. Let’s continue this good work. Support more families in remote areas to gain access to clean water and a better quality of life.
