One family who experienced this is that of Mrs. Yuni (47) from Sukodono. Her youngest daughter, Eklesia (12), is a student at the School of Life Learning Center. That’s where OBI’s team came to know her family’s struggles more closely.
In the past, she and her husband worked in the same factory. She had worked for 20 years as a Quality Control staff member. But due to company policies and internal issues, she had to stop. After that, she worked as a domestic helper before eventually starting a simple porridge business in 2021 to support her family. Meanwhile, her husband and son worked as day laborers in construction.
This Madura porridge business became the family’s lifeline, though the process was not easy. Another trial struck when their eldest son became entangled in a legal case, burdening the family with heavy debts. By mid-2025, their financial position grew increasingly difficult as the debts mounted, making it hard to cover daily needs.
Praise God, in June 2025, OBI distributed the support you gave through the Hunger Relief program. The porridge business she had built received additional capital in the form of raw ingredients, a food cart, and cooking utensils.
From the sales she earned, Mrs. Yuni has slowly been able to pay off debts while still providing food for her family.
