Every contribution you make through OBI’s Agriculture Program brings hope to families struggling with hunger. Through small business capital assistance, families like Mrs. Sarya’s can now plant, harvest, and provide for their daily needs — building a new path toward financial independence.
Sarya Rosmariani, 36, is a homemaker from Simodong Village, where she lives with her husband, four children, her mother, and younger brother. Her husband works as a farm laborer, while she helps in other people’s fields. But their income often isn’t enough to meet even their basic needs.
When school fees for their children were due, they sometimes had to pay their debts by working for the landowners. When there was no work available, Sarya and her husband collected palm fronds to make brooms and sold them just to buy rice.
Even in hardship, Sarya never lost hope. She dreamed of one day managing her own rice field and prayed that God would open the way for her family to be independent. Praise God, through GBI Simodong, her family received business capital support from OBI’s Hunger Relief Program to cultivate a six-rante (approximately 2,400 m²) plot of land. The funds were used to rent the land and plant rice.
From her first harvest, Sarya was able to pay off her children’s school debts and save part of her profit as seed money for the next planting season. Now, she no longer depends on middlemen, and her net income is much higher than before.
Sarya is deeply grateful because, through OBI, God has answered her prayer for independence. She believes that even the smallest act of help can grow into a great harvest of blessings.
Through the hands of generous people, God is growing blessings in the fields of families like Sarya’s.
Let’s keep supporting OBI’s Hunger Relief Program, so more families can cultivate their own land and break free from hunger.
