Thanks to You, Olvan Knows He Matters 

We’re thankful to see how your care and support continue to nurture a young generation that is brave, confident, and rooted in God’s love. Through your support, children like Olvan are learning to see their own worth and grow into confident individuals. 

Olvan is the eldest of three siblings. He’s 14 years old and was born on Nias Island. Today, he lives with his family in Merek Village, Kabanjahe. Since childhood, Olvan often felt insecure because of his friends’ teasing—they used to call him “fat” or “ugly.” Those hurtful words made him withdraw and avoid socializing. Even when he was invited to join the School of Life Learning Center at GKB Sion Merek, he hesitated. 
“I’m afraid they’ll make fun of me again,” he whispered to his mother. 

Thanks to the encouragement of their pastor, Olvan finally decided to give it a try. On his first day, he was still shy and kept his distance from the other children. 

That day’s lesson at School of Life was titled “My Body is God’s Creation.” The tutor patiently explained that every child is created uniquely and wonderfully by God. From that moment, Olvan began to understand that he is special in God’s eyes. 

Slowly, change began to blossom. He became more cheerful, started smiling, and opened up to his friends. 
“Back then, every time Olvan came home from school, he was always grumpy and kept to himself. Now, he comes home with a big smile. I’m so happy to see how much he’s changed,” his mom said with joy.
