Kindness That Brings Miracles: Free Surgery for Naura!

Thanks to your support, on September 20-21, 2024, the second phase of cleft lip and palate surgeries for 9 children in Nias Islands was successfully carried out. Thank you, OBI Partners! Your kindness in supporting this surgery has changed their lives forever. One of those impacted was Naura, a 9-month-old baby born with a cleft lip.

Naura’s birth with this physical condition was a heavy blow for her parents. Her mother recalled an incident during her fifth month of pregnancy, which she believed to be the cause of Naura’s condition. Since birth, the cleft in her upper lip and palate made it difficult for little Naura to breastfeed, so she had to be given formula milk. This condition also forced her mother to feed Naura solid foods before she reached six months of age. However, even then, the food and drinks she consumed sometimes caused her to choke, posing a risk to her life.

Surgery was the only way to heal Naura’s condition. Aside from the fact that there is no hospitals in Nias providing cleft lip surgery services, the surgery seemed impossible because her family has no money. Naura’s father relied only solely on the limited income from selling rubber latex and firewood. Their only hope was that God would send a free surgery program to Nias and bring a miracle for Naura.

The hope of Naura’s parents came true after hearing about the Life-Changing Surgery (LCS) program from OBI. With great joy, this family quickly prepared everything necessary for Naura to receive this free surgery. Your generosity became the bridge to this miracle. Naura successfully underwent surgery at dr. M. Thomsen Nias General Hospital on September 20-21, 2024.

This surgery not only changed Naura’s life forever but also restored her parents’ hearts from guilt. They are deeply grateful for the help they had been hoping for, which came through you.
