Since receiving business support from OBI in 2024, Pamularsih has continued working to build a better livelihood for her family.
Her journey has not always gone as planned. But through regular monitoring, OBI has seen how Pamularsih continues to adapt her business to meet her customers’ needs and respond to changing circumstances.
At first, Pamularsih ran a fried rice stall. Over time, she noticed that the needs of customers around her were changing. So she adapted.
She turned the business into an angkringan, a small roadside food stall where she sells hot and cold drinks, packaged beverages, instant noodles, and a variety of snacks.
That simple change began to make a difference. Sales increased, regular customers began coming, and today Pamularsih and her husband run the business together.
Their stall now earns an average of IDR 40,000–45,000 per day. With a more stable income, the family can regularly pay their electricity and water bills. They are also beginning to afford vegetables, fish, and chicken for their meals, buy refill drinking water, and even set aside a small amount of savings each week.
Still, challenges remain.
Pamularsih’s angkringan is located in an open area. When heavy rain or strong winds come, she and her husband often cannot open the stall, which means losing a day’s income.
Through continued monitoring and conversations with the family, OBI saw another opportunity to help strengthen their livelihood: developing a small grocery shop at their home.
The grocery shop is expected to provide an additional source of income that is less affected by the weather while continuing to operate alongside the existing angkringan.
