17 Health Volunteers Ready to Serve Their Communities in Manokwari 

Healthy communities need people who are ready to care for their neighbors. Through your support, more local volunteers can be trained and equipped to help meet basic health needs right where they live. 

After previously equipping communities in OBI service areas in Nias and East Nusa Tenggara, OBI held another Community Health Volunteer (CHV) training—this time in Manokwari. 

From August 26–29, 2026, 17 health volunteers from different church communities took part in an intensive four-day training at the PWKI Building in Manokwari. 

During the training, participants gained basic health knowledge and practical skills they can use to help people around them. 

The volunteers came from GBAI Jemaat Pemulihan, GPdI El-Gibor, GBAI Jemaat Jehovah Jireh, GPKAI Makarismos, GKI Efrata Wosi, Gereja Efrata Kasi Indah, GSJA Getsemani Amban, and GPdI Groesbeek V. Cloveren. 

The training concluded with Bunda Febelina Indou, Chair of the Manokwari Regional Posyandu Advisory Board, and Mr. Aleksander, Head of the Manokwari Regency Health Office, in attendance. 

Their presence highlighted the importance of churches, communities, and government working together to build healthier communities. 

Now, these 17 volunteers are expected to put what they learned into practice and become health advocates in their churches and communities. 

They have been equipped not only to recognize basic health needs, but also to be there for people, offer support, and connect community members with the help they need. 

And there are still many communities that need trained health volunteers who are ready to serve.
