In the midst of limited facilities and resources, the BNKP Laowi community has taken meaningful steps to support the future of their children. Through the Super5 program and the School of Life learning center, children are not only learning letters and numbers but also developing characters from an early age.
In the beginning, learning activities were held inside the church building with around 20 children. At the same time, teachers were also learning and adapting to the Super5 curriculum and modules. Over time, parents’ trust continued to grow. Today, SPS BNKP Laowi serves around 70 children each year.
“Many families still choose to send their children here, even though there are other schools nearby,” shared Rev. Megawati, who leads and teaches at the PAUD center.
This trust continues to grow because of your support for PAUD and School of Life teachers. Through your partnership, children are experiencing real character development. They are becoming more confident in speaking Bahasa Indonesia, better prepared to enter primary school, and more excited to come and learn at church. As a result, graduates from SPS BNKP Laowi are now well recognized in local primary schools.
Two children who experienced this transformation are Doni Sahputra Harefa (9) and Alden Sohagaini Hulu (4). Doni once took money from his grandmother without permission because he wanted to buy snacks. Through mentoring in the School of Life, he learned about responsibility. Now, whenever he sees money at home, he chooses to ask before taking it.
Alden, on the other hand, was quiet and withdrawn when he first joined the program. Through the Super5 lesson theme I Am Special, he began to grow in confidence. Today, Alden actively participates in class and is even willing to lead songs in front of his friends.
