We believe that every act of kindness never returns empty. Through your support, 27 Community Health Volunteers in Nias are now equipped with new tools and skills to make a greater impact on the health of their communities.
After completing an intensive training program in October, OBI, through our local facilitators, distributed Community Health Volunteer (CHV) Kits to 27 selected volunteers across several communities in Nias on November 25–26 and 28, 2025. Your generosity made it possible for these volunteers to receive the tools they need to provide essential primary health services.
Previously, each volunteer (representing local churches, two from each congregation) participated in a two-day training on October 10–11, 2024 at Aula Bunda Beach, Fodo Village, Gunungsitoli. The training was designed to empower residents, regardless of their educational background, with a strong emphasis on their commitment to serve. This program was carried out in collaboration with the Gunungsitoli Health Office to ensure that all materials were aligned with real community needs.
“We truly appreciate this initiative… These volunteers will become our extended hands in the community, helping health information reach people more effectively,” shared Kasih T. Zebua, S.Si., Apt., MPH, from the Gunungsitoli Health Office.

With these tools, volunteers can now conduct community health checks, screen for non-communicable diseases, and perform early stunting detection with greater accuracy.
“During the training, we learned so much—from stunting prevention and healthy living practices to first aid. We will apply all of this as we serve our congregation and community,” said Albert Toniman Lase, one of the volunteers from Gunungsitoli.
The distribution of CHV Kits represents a tangible collaboration between OBI, our donors, and the Nias Health Office in improving community health—especially in stunting prevention and health education.
Today, each volunteer is able to serve more confidently and more effectively, and this is all possible because of your kindness.
