Training Community Health Cadres in Nias and NTT

Thank you! Because of your support, OBI can empower local communities to take an active role in improving their own health and well-being.

In October 2025, OBI held Community Health Cadre Trainings in two regions: Nias and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

In Gunungsitoli, Nias, the training took place on October 10–11, 2025, at the Bunda Beach Hall in Fodo Village. A total of 27 participants joined, representing 13 local churches in the city. Each church sent two members from their congregation — not because they had a medical background, but because they are locals who truly care about serving others.

Through this approach, OBI ensures that health knowledge and skills can be applied directly in everyday community life.

For two days, participants learned about health ethics, stunting detection and child growth analysis, Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS), and basic CPR techniques. This program was made possible through collaboration between OBI’s Health Team and the Gunungsitoli Health Department.

Meanwhile, a similar training was held in Kupang, NTT, on October 23–24, 2025, attended by 21 participants with great enthusiasm to learn.

OBI partnered with the NTT Provincial Health Department, which led two key sessions: The Role of Health Cadres and Stunting Prevention Efforts. The relevant and practical materials motivated participants to continue learning and serving their communities.

“Through the CHV training, I learned that health service is not only about medical knowledge — it’s a calling to become a channel of God’s love for others. Each session opened my eyes to simple ways to help and prevent illness in the community, especially among children in the School of Life,” shared Christ Mesti, one of the training participants in Gunungsitoli.

Today, these new health cadres in Nias and NTT have become OBI’s field partners to help monitor children’s health, share nutrition and hygiene education, and encourage families to live healthier lives.

This is just the beginning. Together with you, we can continue raising more health cadres who bring light and hope to their communities.

Your support helps OBI expand its impact on more areas in need.
