Business Capital Has Run Out for Children’s School, Your Help Gives New Hope

Your support for OBI helps us consistently provide aid to underprivileged families through the Hunger Relief program. This assistance has become a beacon of hope for many families struggling with economic limitations, including Regina’s (43) family from Oetete, Kupang.

For the past three years, Mrs.  Regina’s life changed drastically after her husband stopped working due to kidney disease. With only a junior high school education, she became the family’s backbone, supporting her four children, three of whom are still in school. And they are part of the students at the School of Life.

At first, she sold cakes (doughnuts and fried snacks) to meet daily needs. However, the increasingly difficult economic conditions forced her to stop her business in June 2024 because she ran out of capital to pay for her children’s school fees. So, Mrs. Regina had to struggle alone, working odd jobs as a childcare provider and doing laundry services.

“Because my husband is sick, we need a lot of money for medicine, school fees for the kids, food and drinks for the kids… at that time I was really stressed,” said Mrs. Regina, holding back tears.

Thanks to your help, Mrs. Regina now has a new chance to bounce back. Through the Hunger Relief program, OBI has provided business capital assistance in the form of equipment like stoves, mixers, fryers, display cases, tables, chairs, and raw materials to restart her business. The support you’ve provided gives Mrs. Regina hope to rebuild her snack shop that had come to a halt.

“I’m really grateful and thankful to Obor Berkat Indonesia. This help allows me to start selling again and provide the best for my children’s education in the future,” said Mrs. Regina.

Your support has made a real difference in Mrs. Regina’s life and her family’s. There are still many other families that need help to rise from their struggles. Let’s keep being a helping hand for those who are fighting!
