Obor Berkat Indonesia continues to address the community’s need for access to healthcare services. In November, free health social services were once again provided to the communities in two locations: Solo, Central Java, and Makalelon, Minahasa Regency.
The implementation of these free health services was highly anticipated by the communities in these two locations, given their limited conditions, both economically and in terms of access to healthcare. As a result, many people came not only to address specific health complaints but also for general health check-ups.
Here, we share the process of OBI’s free health services.
GAIS Gideon Kaplingan Community in Solo
On Sunday, November 3, 2024, OBI collaborated with local medical teams to provide free healthcare services to the GAIS Gideon Kaplingan community in Solo. A total of 93 patients, most of whom were elderly, came with various health complaints such as coughs, colds, cramps, and digestive disorders. After examination, the majority of illnesses were identified as upper respiratory infections, hypercholesterolemia, and gastritis. Patients not only received medical examinations but were also given free medication and prayed for.

El-Shadday Community, Makalelon, Minahasa, North Sulawesi
The limited availability of transportation to visit the nearest health center, located 30-45 minutes away, has left many residents of the El-Shadday community in Makalelon, Minahasa, relying on whatever home remedies they can find when they fall ill. Therefore, when OBI held a free healthcare service on Friday, November 22, 2024, the community eagerly participated to check their health.

In collaboration with the medical team from the Kakas Health Center, Minahasa, OBI provided services to 113 patients, most of whom were children with complaints of coughs and colds. The most common health issues addressed during this event were colds, gastritis (digestive disorders), and gout. In addition to receiving medical check-ups, patients were also given free medication and educated on healthy living practices.

Testimony: Mrs. Wiwik Finally Recovered After Treatment at OBI

Mrs. Wiwik (43 years old) was one of the patients served through the health social service at the GAIS Gideon Kaplingan community in Solo on November 3, 2024. She came with complaints of tingling and numbness in both hands, which she had been suffering from for the past three years. This condition had greatly interfered with her work selling vegetables at the market.
After consulting with the doctor, Mrs. Wiwik discovered that her high uric acid levels were the cause of these symptoms. After taking the medication provided by OBI and adjusting her diet, the pain gradually subsided.
Mrs. Wiwik shared, “I am very grateful for this health service. I was examined, given medication, and the tingling in my hands has healed and gone away.”
Thank you, OBI partners, for continuing to be God’s extension in meeting the needs of many communities across the country. Let’s continue this goodness together to help more people.
