Since August 2024, Obor Berkat Indonesia (OBI) has started a nutritious breakfast program for 105 Super5 early childhood education (PAUD) in remote areas. Through this initiative, OBI aims to address the malnutrition issues faced by children aged 3-6 by providing healthy breakfasts regularly for 6 months.
This program has reached 97 children from 4 Super5 Early Childhood Education centers in NTT and 8 children from 2 Super5 Early Childhood Education centers in Batam, Riau Islands. Every morning, from Monday to Friday, these children receive a varied and nutritious breakfasts, including boiled eggs, milk, rice with protein-rich side dishes, vegetables, and fresh fruit.
The Ekklesia Airkom Early Childhood Education school is one of the beneficiaries of OBI’s nutritious breakfast program. Many children at this Early Childhood Education have not had good breakfast habits; some only consume rice porridge without side dishes or vegetables, while others skip breakfast altogether. Most of the Early Childhood Education children’s parents are farmers, making it very challenging to provide a balanced diet.
The nutritious breakfast program at this Early Childhood Education has been provided to 26 children, including 3 children with malnutrition. We are glad to see the enthusiasm of the children who now enjoy breakfast every day. Each child eagerly anticipates breakfast time and happily finishes their entire portion. Our hope is that every child will receive the nutrition they need to grow optimally.
Our target this year is to provide 26,000 plates of healthy meals for children aged 3-6 years in Early Childhood Education, 200 deworming tablets, and 6 health education guides over the next 6 months. Together with you, our mission to create a healthy and strong generation will be realized!
