A Place to Reach Dreams for School Dropout Children

Education is the gateway to a better future for every child. However, for Muhammad Sidiq (20 years old), the path was not so straightforward. He had to drop out of school and bury his dream of becoming a football player due to economic constraints.

The story of Sidiq’s struggle began when his mother left him. His father remarried and moved to Jakarta, leaving Sidiq to be cared for by his maternal grandmother in their village. Life became increasingly difficult as economic hardships forced him to drop out of school in the grade 2 of junior high. With no other options, Sidiq followed his father to Jakarta, hoping for a better life.

However, life in Jakarta was not any easier. Although he eventually found work as a cleaning service, Sidiq did not give up on his desire to return to school. In between his time, he keept looking for information about schools that accepted dropouts like him until he found Community Learning Center (PKBM) OBI Tanah Merah.

Thanks to your kindness, Sidiq was able to continue his education with a Package B program equivalent to grade 3 junior high at Community Learning Center (PKBM) OBI Tanah Merah. Not only is the education free, but the guidance and teaching from the instructors have given Sidiq hope for a better future.

“Since joining OBI, many things have made me realize and regain hope for a definite future through classroom teaching, motivational classes, and counseling,” Sidiq said.

Now, Sidiq’s enthusiasm for learning has never waned. After completing his junior high equivalent education, he plans to continue to a technical vocational school to secure a better job.

Just like Sidiq, we continue to fight for the future of other children through this education program. Thanks to your generosity, which allows every child to attend school and pursue their dreams.
