Garden for ECCE Schools Enhances Children’s Understanding of Health
Obor Berkat Indonesia (OBI) has proudly launched the “Garden for Every School” project, as a news initiative for the fulfillment of nutrition for children across Indonesia. This program has already benefited 21 ECCE schools in Sumatra, Nias, and East Nusa Tenggara. In addition to providing nutritional supplements through vegetables, the program fosters children’s connection with nature and educates them on the importance of consuming vegetables for health.
As of June 2024, we have witnessed tangible impacts of the vegetable gardens on each child. Here are some positive impressions shared by teachers and parents of beneficiaries of the Garden for Every School:

“At home, Nathania eagerly talks about planting vegetables at school. Because she planted them herself, she became curious about the taste of the plants she grew. Eventually, she started liking to eat vegetables because at school, she was taught about eating healthily like vegetables.”

“Rosina is one of our most enthusiastic children in participating in the Garden for Every School program at our ECCE. She always motivates other children that mustard greens are good for health. She convinces her friends to eat vegetables to avoid getting sick and hospitalized.”

“As a parent, I am very happy with the mustard vegetable gardening program at ECCE Kainos because the children have enjoyable activities. My son, Jakin, is happy to plant mustard greens, water them, and work together with his friends. The harvested mustard greens were also shared by the school, and we are happy to enjoy them together.”
